6 Numbers is a trending iOS app that resembles the number component on the TV gameshow Letters and Numbers.
We often play Letters and Numbers in our classroom as a number fluency task. It is very popular with the Year 6 students and it is awesome hearing them explain the various strategies they used to make a number. Even better is the metacognition shown when students acknowledge that they realised something wouldn't work because of, '... So I knew I needed to try...' Etc. I am also noticing many students using a wider range of approaches due to the sharing of strategies and improving in their attitude towards other math tasks.
I highly recommend that you give 6 Numbers a go in your middle years maths classroom today!
